Trippy, tech-y art at ARTECHOUSE

Celebrating its first anniversary this Miami Art Week, ARTECHOUSE Miami offers a completely unique sensory experience that allows guests to explore art in a whole new way. For Miami Art Week, the digital art space will be showcasing its newest exhibition Infinite Space by Refik Anadol. This exhibition explores memories and dreams through the mind of a machine and features the artist’s world-renowned immersive installation “Infinity Room,” which has been seen by more than two million people around the world. Complimentary daytime admission will be extended to guests with a pass to Art Basel Miami Beach, Design Miami, SCOPE, PAMM Members, and Cultivist Members on Monday, December 2, Wednesday, December 4 and Thursday, December 5 from 12PM-5PM and Tuesday, December 3 from 12-3PM. ARTECHOUSE will then open to the public on Friday, December 6. 

Downtown Miami’s historic DuPont building will once again host the Prizm Art Fair. Renowned for exhibiting international artists from Africa and emerging markets, the creative works will reflect global trends in contemporary art, sculpture, mixed media, and installations. Additionally, Prizm will feature emerging Miami-based artists focusing on socio-political and cultural issues pertinent to the people of African descent in Miami and around the world. TUESDAY, DECEMBER 3RD

The Standard Hotel, Miami Beach is unveiling a series of design collaborations between Miu Miu and M/M Paris – The M/Marbles Stool – in residency in The Garden.  This will be the first US iteration of this iconic partnership, as the original stool, M/Matching Colorstool, launched during Salone del Mobile di Milan earlier this year, and will be an elevation of the first version, featuring a combination of palm wood, crepe rubber, and hand-blown Murano glass pegs. The heroic adventures of Torpedo Boy and his battles in the Moundverse continue at Locust Projects with a new site-specific installation by Houston-based artist Trenton Doyle Hancock–his first project since opening his major survey at MASSMOCA earlier this spring. Hancock’s Moundverse is an epic and fantastical creation myth he started at age 10 with the creation of Torpedo Boy, a well-intentioned, deeply flawed alter-ego superhero who attempts to save the gentle Mounds from the evil Vegans. His narratives–told through paintings, sculpture, drawings, prints, video and installation–explore good and evil, authority, race, class, moral relativism, politics and religion, as well as making unapologetic nods to comic books, illustrations, animations, horror films, and toys. 3852 N Miami Avenue, Tuesday – Saturday from 11AM – 5PM.

As the official Health & Wellness Sponsor of Art Miami 2019, guests will be able to enjoy food and drinks infused with full spectrum CBD at the Veritas Farms Plaza Café located between the Art Miami and Context tents and other locations throughout Art Miami. Additionally, in the café, there will be full spectrum hemp products to sample, a wellness expert on site and a mural by Mr. Brainwash. WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 4TH

1 Hotel – Arcadia Earth: Rainbow Cave Installation– open to public; Created from approximately 50,000 salvaged plastic bags—equal to the amount used in Florida State every four minutes—and salvaged fishing nets, artist Basia Goszczynska’s Rainbow Cave celebrates upcycling and the positive effects of color on the human psyche. The work draws attention to the ubiquity of single use plastic bags while encouraging optimistic engagement with environmental issues. December 4 – December 9 | all day; Location: Drift

1 Hotel – Makers Mark Presents: Garden to Glass – open to public;reservations suggested. Makers Mark invites art and bourbon enthusiasts to an Art Basel cocktail activation on the Habitat Terrace. Guests will select fresh fruits and herbs from the Makers Mark bar cart to combine into their own complimentary personalized Makers Mark cocktail. Those who can also join on Sunday for the Basel brunch will have the chance to design their own floral bouquet – perfect to bring home for the holidays. The Arlo Beach Club tent at Nautilus hotel.

Arlo Beach Club (Dec. 4-7, 2019) – Nautilus Hotel will play host to an over-the-top beachfront venue during Miami Art Week. Featuring luxe lounge decor, jungle-esque foliage and direct beach access, the indoor-outdoor tent will open daily at 11 a.m. serving fresh fare and signature cocktails. The space will host dynamic daytime programming leading into the evening, when it will transform into a captivating nightclub with acclaimed DJs and performers.From 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. famed nightclub Up&Down will turn the space into a luxe, late-night nightlife venue, including a dazzling lineup of DJs and world class musical acts. Rosé Garden After Party with Winnie Harlow at Seaspice. Make your way to Seaspice after a day of art and events for an exclusive Rosé Garden After Party hosted by International Model, Winnie Harlow. Wednesday, December 4th 10:00pm; reservation recommended.

And Partners Hides Out with Taste Craft & Wit and One All Every at Surf Lodge Bungalow in W South Beach. And Partners will transform the exterior surfaces of the Surf Lodge pop-up at W South Beach by covering the poolside bungalow in a day-glow camouflage pattern, which graces the cover of the creative shop’s first book Taste Craft & Wit (Assouline). Exploring the breadth and depth of light, texture, perception and play, And Partners joins One All Every in a deep dive into neon, camouflage and humor in an installation by Miami native and And Partners founder David Schimmel. Rebag and The Daily Front Row Celebrate Art Basel Music by The Misshapes; Wednesday, December 4th 6 PM – 8 PM; Rebag Miami, 140 NE 40th Street, Miami, FL.

From Eden to Sahara’s grand kickoff event at Kimpton Surfcomber Hotel, on Wednesday, December 4 (5-10pm) offers guests a chance to interact with the local Miami creative community and see one of the largest collections of Miami art and design on display this year. This evening soirée in the stylish environs of Surfcomber’s lobby and outdoor area is open-to-the-public and will feature a fashion exhibit, pop-up shops, popular Miami DJs, Sean Bang and Benton, art performances by Forealism, wearing ocean inspired costume designs, live mannequins sporting fashion pieces made from recycled pieces by participating artists, Lucinda Linderman and Kim Yantis, and much more. The food and beverage served throughout the event will complement the art, with vegetarian and organic hors d’oeuvres and rich wine selections provided by Rioja Wines. THURSDAY, DECEMBER 5TH

World-renowned street artist Alec Monopoly will partner with David Grutman and David “Papi” Einhorn for a special Plate Preview Dinner at Miami Beach hotspot Papi Steak. Starting at 6:00 p.m. in the restaurant’s intimate dining room, guests will enjoy a four-course menu featuring Louis XIII by Remy Martin and signature Papi Steak dishes such as Alec Monopoly’s namesake dish, the Monop-Potato – a double mashed potato topped with crème fraîche and Osetra caviar, served on a limited edition plate designed by Alec Monopoly himself that guests will be able to take home with them. The full plate set will be available for purchase at a later date. The exclusive dinner will be $500++ per guest, with $100 from each ticket benefitting Style Saves, a non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring a fresh generation of movers and shakers, and raising money to allocate to underprivileged students in South Florida and beyond. The progressive House of Suntory ‘Tiny House’ is a transportable and elegant Japanese bar that is currently traveling to various locations around the U.S., where guests both inside and outside the structure are treated to the highest form of omotenashi, or Japanese hospitality. Art News x Surf Lodge at W South Beach. And Partners’ visual language will transform W South Beach’s WET Deck area from 9PM – 1AM where Surf Lodge, Art News and Swizz Beatz will host an after-party for 400 guests with music by DJ Cassidy, Mia Moretti and Isaac Likes. Gaultier Paris Haute Couture Gala & Dinner on Thursday, December 5th where guests will join Chef Christophe Raoux of Peninsula Paris for a delectable Parisian four-course dinner, and preview select pieces from Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture collections. Live auction items include a private meet-and-greet with Jean Paul Gaultier at his Parisian Atelier, among other select items. All auction proceeds to benefit “The Little Dreams Foundation”, a non-profit organization that helps disadvantaged children with a passion for talent to pursue their dreams. Miami Beach Edition – Join Lonely Whale at its latest Museum of Plastic pop-up as it transports the reality of our plastic pollution crisis to the forefront of Miami Art Week at The Miami Beach EDITION with collaborator HP Inc. and media partner ATTN. The installation will be part of his larger mission to identify sustainable solutions for the fashion industry, cultural icon and fashion designer, Heron Preston will unveil a first-of-its-kind pilot program, in collaboration with HP at the Museum. Visitors will be guided through an interactive experience that tells the story of the single-use plastic water bottle, why we use 500 billion globally each year and what is at stake if we don’t take action. The pop-up museum will be open to the public from 12:00-8:00 p.m. on Dec. 6-7 and from 12:00-5:00 p.m. on Dec. 8.

1 Hotel – The Art of Poetry with the Biscayne Poet – open to public. Local Miami poet Oscar Fuentes, also known as The Biscayne Poet, will be stationed in the lobby providing improvisational, personalized poems from his vintage typewriter on recycled 1 Hotel stationary. Music by DJ Duo Gumbo Limbo Experiment presented by Peroni at W South Beach – The Gumbo Limbo Experiment is a multi-sensorial show featuring internationally renowned DJ Richie Hell and mutli-media artist Francisca Oyhanarte. A new exhibition by Versace and friend of the House, interior designer, Sasha Bikoff will debut during Art Basel Miami Beach and Design Miami. Drawing inspiration from the brand’s rich heritage, one-of-a-kind furniture pieces designed by Bikoff will be displayed together with the archive looks they reference. On Sunday, December 8thThe Standard will host its annual Sunday BBQ, the unofficial closing event of the Basel season. This year’s Don’t Be Lazy Sunday BBQ will promote civic responsibility and voter engagement with the ACLU ahead of the 2020 election. The event will re-introduce Standard Votes while promoting the ACLU’s Voting Rights Project. Alongside The Standard, these brands— Ben & Jerry’s, Catbird, Everlane, La Colombe Coffee Roasters, Levi’s, LOROD, Lyft, Mara Hoffman, Noah, Obey Giant, Outdoor Voices, Postmates, PUMA, and Yola Mezcal—are all committed to raising awareness and funds for the ACLU to bolster voting rights and education in 2020. Kiki on The River, the Miami River’s chic indoor/outdoor hotspot is closing out Miami Art Week with a sundown set by GRAMMY Award Winner Cedric Gervais. Put on your dancing shoes and join us for the ultimate Art Week wind down as the artist “Summertime Sadness” and a slew of multi-platinum singles spins us into the sunset. NOVIKOV Miami will be partnering with the all-natural and premium sake, SOTO Sake during the Downtown Miami’s signature dim sum brunch. On December 8th from 12-5 pm, fashionable locals and visitors can enjoy bottles of the smooth and delicate spirit for HALF-PRICE. With a cult following on Soundcloud, Sahar has mastered the art of soulful throwbacks, R&B and hip-hop mixes, the perfect way to wind down after a full Miami Art Week. Event is free to attend and open to the public at Blind Barber from 7 p.m. to 12 a.m.
