Keep Your Plants Alive with this high-design pendant light

We’ll take all the help we can get

Ask an architect to design something other than a building, and you’ll usually get pretty interesting results. The latest example comes from Bjarke Ingels, who partnered with the Italian light maker Artemide on a new lamp called Gople.

The cylindrical drop of Venetian-blown glass is a follow up to Ingels’ previous collaboration with the lighting company, which resulted in a series of softly curved LEDs shaped as glowing letters. For Gople, Ingels designed a hollow, pill-like shape that dangles from a wire. The light comes in white crystal, transparent silver, or a transparent bronze finish, though the bulb itself is just as much of a selling point.

The pendants are embedded with color shifting RWB that emit red, white, and blue tones instead of the typical red, green, and blue. Sounds patriotic, right? Not really. The designers claim the blue light helps with the grow phase of the plant and the red light is designed for when the plants bloom.
