Each year tennis fans and players flock to Miami’s picturesque Key Biscayne to spectate or play in the Miami Open, a world-class tennis competition unlike any other. Much to the delight of Miami Beach residents’ the Miami Open is close to home, and allows them to watch some of their neighbors and internationally-known tennis players, who happen to be the best men and women players in the world, do their thing. Coincidentally, the Miami Open runs two days into April, which happens to be Miami’s Sport and Wellness Month. I bet you’ll agree with me that there is no better way to kick of Miami’s Sport and Wellness Month than watching an exhilarating tennis match or two.

Since 1987’s first Miami Open, crowds have flocked from all over the globe with one objective in mind – to watch high-profile tennis matches, which feature some of the top names in tennis. Over 300,000 spectators cram into Crandon Park to watch the largest outdoor tennis event in the world, besides the Grand Slam. During the 14-day event, a total of 96 women and 96 men participate in the singles competition; and, 32 women’s and 32 men’s doubles team compete as well.
